Dr. Jonathan ("Jon") Aumais is a USPTO-registered Patent Agent with over 20 yrs experience advising clients on IP issues in the life sciences. He is the founder of InnovaBioPat LLC, a boutique consultancy focused on life sciences IP strategy and patent prosecution. He works with biotechnology and medical technology clients to build high-value, defensible patent portfolios that align with clinical, regulatory, and business objectives.
Jon brings over 20 years of experience across leading industry and scientific institutions, including senior IP roles at Genentech (Roche) and Thermo Fisher Scientific. He has led the development and prosecution of global patent portfolios spanning almost all areas of modern life sciences and has particular expertise in cell and gene therapy (including associated manufacturing technologies), regenerative medicine, stem cells, cellular technologies, advance cell culture systems, genome engineering, biologics and therapeutic antibodies (multiple formats), immunology, diagnostics, medical devices, and advanced drug-delivery systems. His practice emphasizes translating complex science into strategically scoped patent assets that withstand scrutiny under current U.S. and international patent law, including evolving standards under 35 U.S.C. §§ 101, 102, 103, and 112.
