Join NCPP and NAPP on November 12, 2026, for a one-day online symposium devoted exclusively to artificial intelligence in patent preparation and prosecution.

Leaders in AI, patent practice, governance, and technology will examine the current state of AI, where the technology is headed, and practical frameworks for governing, deploying, and using it in patent work. Sessions will address professional responsibility, confidentiality, security, implementation, quality control, patent drafting, prior-art analysis, prosecution, and emerging workflows.

Whether you are an advanced user exploring the cutting edge of AI-assisted patent practice or have never used AI and want to understand how to begin safely, you will leave with valuable insight, practical guidance, and a clearer path forward.

This program is focused entirely on patent preparation and prosecution not litigation, contracts, or general legal practice.

Three Tracks of AI Education

Governance - 2 hours CLE

Understand the ethical, legal, and professional-responsibility frameworks for AI in patent preparation and prosecution. This section examines confidentiality, privilege, data protection, inventorship, disclosure obligations, human oversight, accountability, and the policies needed to manage AI risk responsibly without unnecessarily limiting innovation.

Operations - 2 hours CLE

Learn how to move from AI interest to secure, effective implementation. This section covers tool evaluation, buy-versus-build decisions, cybersecurity, workflow integration, and more. Whether deploying AI across a large organization or selecting tools for solo or boutique practices, attendees will gain practical frameworks for making sound operational decisions.

Practice - 2 hours CLE

Explore how AI is changing the day-to-day work of patent preparation and prosecution. This section examines practical applications in invention disclosure, prior-art searching, specification and claim drafting, application review, office-action analysis, prosecution strategy, and client counseling. Attendees will see emerging workflows that can save time and increase quality, understand their limitations, and learn where skilled practitioner judgment remains essential.
